		<description>Thanks for the added info. Interesting that he served in the Civil War, considering he was in his 30s by then. During the first 40 years of photography a large percentage identified themselves artists -- some were also adept at drawing or painting and found photography a more profitable outlet for their creativity. Others had little talent at anything, including photography. But those that lasted in the business, like Upham, were usually talented. This example from Upham is at least technically adept, if not particularly creative -- but then how many ways can one pose a baby?</description>
