GenPics.Org -- Adding Ancestral Images
GenPics.Org does not host images directly, but allows
you to link to family photos elsewhere on the Internet. If you have
a web site with family photos on it already, that's great! If not,
there are several free image hosting services you can use, such as:
... and many more, just use any search engine to find one you like.
For best results, try to SCAN pictures rather than use a camera. If
you must use a camera, find a bright but non-glare location to
take your picture, make sure you are at a 90 degree angle to the image
so it is not distorted, and check that your photo is sharp before
putting it on-line. Try to make the image the correct size to fill a
normal computer screen. Remember, the frame, cardboard mount, or case the
photo is in can provide important clues -- get it all in the photo. Use
photo editing software to crop-out background distractions. If it is a
card with printing on the back, include a photo of that too! Caption your
image with as much information as you have on the subject.
